Air Liquide announced that its net profit for 2021 increased despite the sharp rise in energy prices.
The net profit for the year amounted to 2.57 billion Euros compared to 2.44 billion Euros in 2020, the industrial gas company stressed.
The group’s revenues amounted to 23.34 billion euros, 14% higher than the previous year, as activities improved significantly in all sectors, said Air Liquide.
Net income was slightly higher than estimated at 2.56 billion euros, while revenues exceeded estimates at 23.13 billion euros.
Air Liquide stressed that it faced a sharp and continuous increase in energy prices, although it improved its operating margin, adjusting its pricing policy along with 430 million Euros to efficiency.
“The group has performed exceptionally well, despite the continuing pandemic and strong inflationary pressures, mainly in relation to the sharp rise in energy prices in the second half,” said CEO Benoit Potier.
For 2022, the French company emphasizes that it is convinced that it will further increase its operating margin and will achieve a recurring increase in net worth, at a stable exchange rate, provided that there will be no significant upheaval in the economy.
He proposed a dividend of 2.90 euros per share from 2.75 euros in the previous year.
