Airbnb launches co-host network and bets on more personalized tools

From this Wednesday (16th), the Airbnb starts to make available in Brazil a co-host network for owners who want to share the management of their spaces.

Now, the platform itself provides a list of potential co-hosts based on factors such as location and reviews. Connection and coordination of functions occurs directly through the application. Previously, the position used to be held by close relatives, friends or hired people.

On the other hand, for guests, the platform becomes more personalized, which includes simpler booking processes, with destination suggestions and tips for finding last-minute accommodations.

“We want to increasingly personalize interaction with the platform so that it becomes increasingly easier and intuitive to find the perfect location. The personalization effort will shape a new Airbnb”, he says Fiamma Zarife General Director of Airbnb for South America.

The news is part of “October 2024 Edition ” from the company, an annual event that presents new platform tools.

Brazil is listed as Airbnb’s key market in Latin America. Worldwide, the company estimates that there are more than five million hosts.

Co-host network

List of co-hosts now available on Airbnb

According to Airbnb, more than 10,000 co-hosts are available in countries that have the tool. For the host, a list of individuals suitable for the role is made available. The algorithm is based on location, host experience and accommodation type.

Co-hosts help owners manage accommodations. The work ranges from setting up the listing to communicating with guests, including making reservations. Payments are handled between the parties and can be either a fixed installment or a portion of the rent.

According to Airbnb, 84% of co-hosts already help manage an accommodation with the seal Guest Favorite the highest distinction on the platform, and 73% are Superhosts, that is, they are already highly rated hosts.

For now, the co-host network is available in 10 territories: Germany, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Spain, United States, France, Italy, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

For hosts, tools have been improved based on feedback. Price suggestions can now be adopted in one click; the earnings panel has been simplified and communication with guests has ready-made templates for quick responses that can be customized.

Personalization for Guests

THE guest experience When choosing an accommodation, you also have to look at the latest news. From now on, the search bar suggests destinations based on history and previous bookings.

“We want people to spend more time traveling and not just planning”, says Fiamma Zarife. The director says that, soon, information from the guest’s profile will be used to personalize the experience, taking into account individuals who like wine or who are more likely to travel with children, for example.

The search for last-minute accommodation becomes easier with tips made available and discounts become more prominent. A search for a six-day trip, for example, can be extended by another day with the emergence of a weekly discount.

Information relevant to that user, such as a backyard for children or the existence of a games room, is now highlighted in the ad, and filters have been redesigned.

In terms of reservations, Airbnb now has a shorter and more objective page for payments . Furthermore, new methods to carry out transactions are being implemented around the world. In Brazil, the Pix is accepted since July as an additional payment method. More than 280,000 guests have already made payments via Pix since the tool was implemented, according to Airbnb.
