Airbnb’s new “Amate” homes (and the meaning of travel)

Despite social media, despite those who think that traveling means taking a photo of the crooked Leaning Tower of Pisa, or of the Cathedral of Milan, or taking any other “trophy photo” in every part of the globe and returning home, travel is and remains an experience of a different world. It is only in this encounter between the traveler and a place with its specific culture that the sense of discovery experiences which makes the journey not a list of places visited but an activity that enriches the mind and heart.

Visiting a place is certainly seeing its beauties, art, architecture, but also and above all entering a different world. Observe the differences, immerse yourself in the way each culture sees the world and deciphers needs that are common to all humanity. This is why Airbnb was and still is unrivaled: because it brings people into authentic worlds, into the homes of those who truly live in the places, beyond any homologation of large hotel companies. Perhaps giving up the comfort of the known for the openness that only the unknown can offer.

In short, the travel experience starts from where you will sleep, and so that this experience is always unique and welcoming, from this week among the possibilities for selecting accommodation on the Airbnb platform there will be a new filter called “Loved by Guests”.

Among the over 7 million Aibrnb ads, the «Loved by Guests» badge selects the 2 million adverts that have the best reviews. They are – in practice – the “word of mouth” of Airbnb guests left to future guests. The advice that tells you that you will be welcomed in a comfortable place, by a reliable host. And that your holiday will be special.

Who are the “Beloved”

What parameters must ads have to become part of «Loved by Guests»? Excellent reviews with an average rating of over 4.9 stars. High scores in every aspect of the review: ease of check-in, cleanliness, accuracy of the listing, communication with the host, location and value for money. Plus, outstanding reliability: average of host cancellations and quality issues requiring customer service intervention must not be more than 1%.

To make reviews easier to read, Airbnb has also thought of new features that make them easier to read and more useful, while new tools will allow hosts to better manage listings and highlight the most important information. If you want travel more “loved” in “loved” homes now you know how to do it. Some of these houses are these (amazing).
