Airline carrying Marília Mendonça is investigated after a labor complaint

The Public Ministry of Labor in Goiás (MPT-GO) opened an inquiry to investigate possible labor irregularities committed by PEC Táxi Aéreo, the company responsible for the plane that crashed and caused the death of singer Marília Mendonça and four other people.

Targets for complaints by employees, the company is investigated for possible disrespect to working hours and lack of rest by the pilots.

The first anonymous tip was made in May this year, according to the chief labor attorney, Alpiniano do Prado Lopes. According to him, the employee stated that the company did not respect working hours and that pilots flew more than the recommended number of hours. The complainant also alleged that the crew did not have a suitable place to rest.

According to Alpiniano do Prado Lopes, investigations will be accelerated due to the death of Marília Mendonça, this Friday (5), after the small plane crashed near a waterfall in the Caratinga mountain range, in the interior of Minas Gerais.

The MPT of Goiás will hear witnesses and company representatives in the coming days. In addition, the agency must request additional documents to complete the investigation. However, the MPT considered that it is not possible to say that the suspicions are linked to the accident involving the singer.

CNN sought out the company PEC Táxi Aéreo, but so far, it has not returned.
