Airline to offer beds for economy class passengers on long flights

Incredible but true! The airline Air New Zealand announced that from 2024, all economy class passengers on long-haul flights will have access to the use of the first berth in the plane that will allow them to have a restful sleep.

These berths will be installed in the eight new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft that the airline will receive within two years.

Airline will install bunks on airplanes for economy class

For the installation of these beds, five economy class seats will be removed and six bunks will be placed, three on each side. It is estimated that each one will measure 1.98 meters long and 60 centimeters wide. In addition, they will be equipped with an ergonomic mattress, sheets, pillows, privacy curtain, USB charging port and ventilation.

This service was designed for passengers who make flights lasting 17 hours and will be valid as of September 2024. It is worth mentioning that passengers will only be able to use the berths for a maximum of four continuous hours and the service must be reserved in advance. paying an additional cost that has not yet been revealed.

According to Leanne Geraghty, Director of Sales and Customer Service at Air New Zealand, the bunks will also have a lighting system, teas and balms that will help users fall asleep quickly and efficiently.
