Airlines have until this Wednesday to detail wave of cancellations to Procon

Airlines have until this Wednesday (12) to inform Procon about the number of flights canceled in recent days, due to the increase in cases of Covid-19 and influenza in crews.

According to the consumer protection organization, Azul asked for an extension to give this answer until Friday (14). Gol and Latam have already sent responses to the agency, which will analyze the information.

Procon’s opinion on these responses should be released next week.

This Tuesday, only Latam canceled 42 flights. Earlier this week, on Monday, the company had canceled 49 flights.

Azul even canceled about 10% of its 850 flights, that is, 85 flights have been canceled since the beginning of the year.

Gol said earlier this week that it has not yet had to cancel flights, as it has been able to reallocate some jobs for employees who had to be removed.

What to do in case of cancellation

The consumer with a canceled flight can request a full refund of the ticket or be relocated to another flight, if available. The company can also deposit a credit for the customer to travel on another date.

In the event that the passenger cannot board, because he has contracted Covid-19 or influenza, he must present a certificate to have his rights protected.
