Apple’s Airpods Max Headphones Come With A Condensation Problem

At the moment, platforms like Twitter, Reddit, and even Apple’s site forums are all abuzz with an increasing number of complaints by truly baffled and highly dissatisfied users. The expensive headphones have ear cups made up of aluminum, and when the users removed their acoustic memory foam-based ear cushions after a limited usage, they noticed condensation building up inside the ear cups. Not only that, but some people also noticed the water droplets trickling down the powerful, 40-mm drivers.

This problem has most likely occurred because of using Aluminum instead of the conventional plastic for the ear cups.

A user took to Twitter and posted about their issue and also mentioned that they had not worn their headphones for a long time, neither in a humid environment. And the water droplets that trickled down the drivers later caused ear detection problems for them.

Another user then replied to them that they also faced this harrowing issue after a light, forty minutes long walk, and even after watching a 1 hour and 30 minutes long movie. They noticed the water droplets from the condensation trickling down the drivers and the ring getting red.

Another person from Florida also mentioned that they faced a similar problem in a closed, non-humid environment without any physical activity after usage of 2.5 hours.

This problem is noticeable when the magnetic ear cushions are detached from the ear cups.

Some users believe that this problem is occurring because Apple used aluminum for the ear cups instead of using plastic, which all other headphone makers use. Now, these are some heavy headphones, and the aluminum just adds more issues to the problems because it is a poor heat insulator. So, the weight of the headphones plus the body heat even if the person is sitting and doing anything physically exhausting, it is all adding up and causing condensation to build within the ear cups.

Now, this is a serious design flaw and is not likely to be taken care of until Apple releases the second and improved generation of AirPods Max.

The pricey repair makes the headphones even more expensive.

Apple has not commented publicly about this issue, but a spokesperson suggested a costlier solution. They said about the coverage that it is going to be a $29 repair over a $59 purchase of AppleCare. With taxes, this price will total up to around $680 for headphones and coverage.

The spokesperson also advised that users must wipe off this condensation after every use. But what about the water droplets that enter the drivers and cause distortions? The spokesperson and Apple have not answered this question as yet!
