At USA for new negotiations on the purchase of fighter planes F-16 a Turkish delegation is expected to arrive on Monday (15/8) as the Turkish Defense Minister revealed on Tuesday (9/8).
“The talks about acquisition of the F-16s they continue. (…) We have a meeting on August 15: we were invited to the United States,” said Mr Hulusi Akar during a conference in Ankara without specifying who made the invitation.
However, he added that continues to reject the conditions set by the US Congress for the sale of these aircraft to Turkey: the US MPs demand that Ankara refrain from any threat against Greece and especially not to violate its airspace.

The French Agency notes that the Turkey wants to acquire 40 F-16 fighter jets, as well as spare parts necessary to maintain and modernize the F-16s it already owns.
According to the same img, US President Joe Biden said he supports the delivery of F-16s to Turkey during his meeting with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the NATO summit in June in Madrid.
“Mr. Biden’s approach was very positive in Madrid,” Akar recalled.
