Al. Haritsis: It was inconceivable that the Prime Minister did not know about the Tsiodra-Lytra report

“We are harshly critical of the government. We will not become gravediggers like the ND did as the opposition,” said Alexis Haritsis, SYRIZA-PS’s head of Development and Investment, on the show “Mega Hour Society”. He added: “The noise around the report of Tsiodra and Lytra has been created because we are facing a national tragedy and more than 20,000 dead and the Prime Minister himself told us from the floor of Parliament that it does not matter if someone is hospitalized inside or outside the ICU “.

“The Tsiodra – Lytra report shows that 38.5% of patients could have been saved if there were more ICUs and where they should be, since the report also shows the inequality between Attica and the Region”, underlined the head of the SYRIZA department. “It is inconceivable that the prime minister should not be aware of a report prepared by the chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Ministry of Health himself,” he continued. He even pointed out that “the report concerns the second and third wave of the pandemic. Today things are much worse”. Mr. Haritsis called on the government “to stop opposing the opposition and to give the answers that society demands and is entitled to”. “And first of all, how many of our fellow citizens have lost their lives outside the ICU,” he stressed.

“In the midst of a pandemic we have a budget with reduced regular expenditure for 2022 by 800 million, although for two years now everyone has been talking about the need to revive the NSS. How will this be done? With underfunding?” asked Al. Charitsis. He countered: “From 2015 to 2019 and in very difficult fiscal conditions, we had every year an increase in the budget for health and recruitment of permanent and auxiliary staff. Announcements for 2018 are still pending.”
