“Europe has for the first time decided not to tackle the crisis with restrictive measures but with an expansionary policy, the lifting of fiscal restrictions and the Recovery Fund have enabled member states to put money into the economy,” Haritsis said. “At the same time, there are growing voices that understand that Europe can not go on like this but that there must be a structural overhaul of the Stability Pact into a Sustainable Development Pact,” he added.
Closing, he said: “The quality element is even more crucial: this historic opportunity is not being used to create conditions for a complete transformation of the Greek economy, by expanding the productive base, access to companies that are excluded from bank lending and the structure of financing in “based on regional needs. All this is absent from the Greek plan.”
