THE European Union expressed its “disgust” for Use of “unnecessary” force by Israeli forces at a funeral in Jerusalem of a Palestinian-American journalist Sirin Abu Akleh who was killed Wednesday during Israeli raid on the occupied West Bank.
According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, 33 people were injured during the funeral, six of whom were taken to hospital. Israeli police said six arrests had been made.
“Shocked by the violence at the St. Joseph Hospital and the unnecessary level of violence perpetrated by the Israeli police throughout the funeral procession”the EU delegation wrote on Twitter Palestine.
Israeli police raided the St. Joseph Hospital in East Jerusalem – a Palestinian section of the city that was captured and annexed to the Jewish state – and dispersed a crowd holding Palestinian flags as the coffin was taken out of the hospital.

“If you do not stop these nationalist chants, we will have to disperse you using force and prevent the funeral from taking place.”said an Israeli policeman from the loudspeaker addressing the crowd, according to a video released by the police.
Footage broadcast by local television networks shows the coffin of Qatar’s Al Jazeera journalist nearly falling to the ground as Israeli police disperse the crowd.
“Such disproportionate behavior only does fuel tensions,” the EU said.

“Disgust from the scenes observed today on the sidelines of the funeral and the disproportionate and unreasonable use of force during the funeral procession,” EU Ambassador to Israel Dimitar Janchev also commented on Twitter. “Maintaining public order can be done by other means,” he said.

The “deep annoyance” of the White House
And White House expressed the “Deep annoyance” from the pictures of the funeral of Palestinian-American journalist Sirin Abu Akleh, which were marked by the violence of the Israeli police at the beginning of the funeral procession.
“We have all seen these images, they are deeply disturbing”said spokeswoman Jen Psaki. “We deplore the intrusion into what should be a calm procession”he added.
“We asked for respect for the funeral procession, the relatives of the deceased and the family on this sensitive issue”continued Psaki, paying tribute to “Remarkable journalist” who was killed Wednesday during an Israeli raid on the occupied West Bank.
In contrast to the European Union, the representative of the US government reserved the right to denounce the use of disproportionate force by Israeli forces during the funeral.
“When we say that (these images) are disturbing, we obviously do not justify them”limited to stating.
