Al Sisi – Kopelouzou meeting on the electrical interconnection of Greece – Egypt

D. Kopelouzos, President of the Kopelouzo Group, had a meeting with the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mr. Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, in Egypt today. Present – among others – on behalf of Egypt, were the Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker.

At the working meeting between the two parties, Mr. Dimitris Kopelouzos, head of the group of executives of the Group, referred to the progress of the electrical interconnection of Egypt with Greece and the transmission of green energy through the “GREGY interconnection”. At the same time, the Egyptian delegation proceeded to a broad review of the developments and the steps that have been taken, confirming the strategic nature of the project both for Greece and for the EU

It is recalled that the Kopelouzou Group, through its subsidiary company ELICA SA, is developing the electrical interconnection project between Egypt and Greece with a capacity of 3,000 MW for the transfer of 100% green energy. The project will directly connect Egypt with Attica avoiding unnecessary intermediate unloading points. This project is fully in line with the European Union’s strategy to transition to green energy and achieve zero CO2 emissions by 2050.
