Al. Tsipras to SYRIZA: ‘If we do not change, how will we change the country?’

LAST UPDATE: 21.40

By Niki Zorba

In his first interview after the surprise he reserved for SYRIZA yesterday, Alexis Tsipras addressed a message with a rhetorical question within his party, mainly to dissidents: “If we do not change, how will we change the country”?

In the TV interview he gave (Kontra), Mr. Tsipras confirmed that he really surprised the members of the Political Council yesterday with his proposal for the election of a president and a central committee of SYRIZA by the party members, while he downplayed the reactions expressed by Umbrella. attributing it, in part, to the “surprise”, expressing the hope that when they think of the “depth of his proposal”, they will reconsider.

In the same context, he clarified that Pavlos Polakis enjoys his support even though he does not agree with him at all, citing the multi-collectivity of SYRIZA and charging N.D. to agree on everything “, as he explained as long as it moves in a coordinated framework, operation.

For KINAL and Nikos Androulakis, he stated that he will not seek a meeting with him immediately “he is still looking for his footprints, I am not in the mood to take care of a new player who enters the political scene”, as he characteristically stated. However, he reiterated the dilemma that Mr. Androulakis had posed as soon as he was elected, that he would soon be called to answer and it would be judged for this whether he would go with the right or with the Democratic faction.

Regarding the elections and the possibility of forming a progressive government, Mr. Tsipras closed hermetic scenarios for the formation of a minority government, emphasizing that a precondition for a progressive government is the victory of SYRIZA in the elections.

For K. Mitsotakis and the government, he sharply criticized the implementation of government material – especially for a pandemic and accuracy – calling for elections as soon as possible.

Sampling his answers, Mr. Tsipras said, among other things, about:

Pandemic

Mr. Mitsotakis is unreliable. It does not matter what he says about SYRIZA.

What matters is what he does to protect the citizen from the Pandemic. And it does not do many things. It is a dangerous government and a complete failure. And for Health and for income and for Democracy.

Let Mr. Mitsotakis look at the right-wing opposition in the rest of the EU. The opposition in Greece, in all parties, has sided with the government in all crucial decisions.

The real undermining of public health was Mr. Mitsotakis’ program.

Accuracy

The responsibilities of the Government are enormous.

Government policy is accelerating the crisis of accuracy and has not taken steps to support households.

The government has done nothing to break the cartels. They pretend they do not understand.

When you want to support society and income, you increase the minimum wage. Across the EU both in ’20 and ’21 it gave bold increases. Only Greece and Estonia did not give.

SEV and the Banks do not want to increase the minimum wage and Mr. Mitsotakis does not want to upset them.

K. Mitsotaki – Government

I have asked many times for all of us to sit at a table together to communicate. Now there is no question of conciliation on the ruins. The only way out now is for the Mitsotakis Government to leave.

There is no possibility of negotiating with this Government.

Mr. Mitsotakis is right: indeed we are separated by an abyss. I am self-made. As a child, he found everything ready in his life.

They have set up a regime in the media. But no matter how much they support you, the citizen sees the reality. whatever they tell him. I do not deal with the media. I am commenting on a reality. The citizens themselves are willing to express their indignation at the unprecedented support for democracy of the Government

Elections

Obviously we can not impose them and we will not overthrow the Constitution and the State, but Democracy does not only mean that we vote every four years. We are active citizens.

Since Mr. Mitsotakis is such a dude and tells us turkeys, why does he not hold elections?

For the same reason that we did not ask for elections two years ago, out of sensitivity in human life, we ask for them now.

Progressive government

One-party governments have led to bankruptcy and memoranda. Co-operative governments can be very stable if done on an honest programmatic basis.

A political and moral condition for achieving political change is for SYRIZA to be the first party. I am not talking about a minority government.

The prime ministers are decided by the people. When they put prime ministers behind the scenes, they were short-lived solutions.

There is a possibility that we will not be in a permanent electoral process and will be led to a progressive government from the first ballot box of the simple proportional system.

SYRIZA will win the elections. He is not going to lose them.

Nikos Androulakis

I want to be honest with him, he has not yet given samples, he is still looking for his footprints, he is still going through his honeymoon. For Mr. Androulakis and KINAL, the difficulties are ahead and from them will be judged the positions he will take.

Mr. Mitsotakis is embarrassed. The elections in KINAL attracted the interest of the people. He is looking to find where he will meet Mr. Androulakis. I understand why the concern. Because a part of the PASOK modernizers was under its own influence and is now being repatriated.

I do not see KINAL and the space as a political opponent. should answer either with the progressive faction or with the right. PASOK lost much of its political power because it did not have worthy leaders. Vangelis Venizelos is very capable, but because he collaborated with the right.

I will not ask for a meeting with Nikos Androulakis in the near future. I have no intention of sponsoring a new player entering the political scene. I do not have such anxiety.

Polls

The trends show rapid deterioration for the ruling party and reduction of the gap with SYRIZA. Is there a choice for us to proceed with the procedures in the next period to make our party victorious in the next elections?

SYRIZA

It’s not a decision I made suddenly now. We have been working on it for months with my close associates, studying EU parties as well. The changes we are proposing are very bold and innovative.

Our model gives value and power to the party members for this and the procedures will be simplified. It is not Democracy for the ND voter to go and elect a leader for KINAL. It is brutality of the Republic.

We want to multiply the party members. SYRIZA can become more massive.

I do not believe in leadership parties. I believe in the value of leaders as long as they take power from the base.

If I wanted to drive people away from me, old people, I would have done it.

SYRIZA is the largest Left and Center-Left party in the EU.

If we do not change, how will we change the country? SYRIZA must be open to society. It is threatened if it is kept closed in a bowl.

I consider it normal for there to be reactions to my proposal. SYRIZA is not a cemetery. It makes sense as I was surprised. If they realize the depth of my proposal, I think they will reconsider.

Polaki

ND produces more Polaki than we can consume. I agree with some of them, I disagree with others. As long as it is in a coordinated operating framework, we do not have to agree on everything.

But N.D. is tired of Polakis. Polakis one, Polakis the other ..

The parties are diverse. SYRIZA is a party that has both Polakis and Dragasakis and Iliopoulos and Tzanakopoulos and Tsipras and Tsakalotos.

I do not think that Polakis is doing harm. N.D. has instrumentalized behaviors. And very often I do not agree with the utterance of his speech.
