The 39-year-old mother and her 8-year-old son found death when a huge tree fell on the family’s house in the community of Flatwood, located north of Montgomery – the capital of the state of Alabama.
It was around 3:30 a.m. (local time) and residents reported hearing the sirens about two minutes before the tornado. The victims “were out of luck,” a local official said.
