An alarm was sounded at the Louvre museum after a threat to place at least 100 explosives on the Mona Lisa, the famous work by Leonardo da Vinci. According to a report by Le Figaro, on March 17 the management of the museum received a message on the official website from the organization called “Founding Fathers of Confederation”, referring to the 36 people who represented the colonies of British North America in the 19th century. “We promise to blow up the Mona Lisa and many other masterpieces. Just a warning: 100kg of C4 can do a lot of damage,” the threatening message said, with reports saying it was written in a style reminiscent of Shakespeare's plays. Thus, a check was carried out in all areas of the museum and no suspicious object was found, however the authorities remain vigilant due to the unusual threat.
