The “alarming” reduction in insects in the United Kingdom is confirmed by the results of a “indicative inventory” in which volunteers counted the Zuzunas who found dead on their cars. More than 9,500 volunteers participated in this study organized by two institutions and called Bugs Matter (“insects are important”). In the four years they worked, from 2021 to 2024, they noticed that the number of insects crushed on the license plates was reduced by 63%.
