Former Albanian President Bujar Nisani passed away on Saturday at the age of 56, due to serious health problems, as reported by the ATA news agency.
In a post on social media, Albanian President Ilir Meta states that Nisani will always be remembered with respect for his contribution to the country. “Nisani will always be remembered as a personality with rare values and as a leader with integrity and vision,” Meta stressed.
Bouyar Nisani began his political career in 1991, when he joined the Democratic Party. In July 2005 he was elected Member of Parliament.
During the eight-year rule of the country by the Democratic Party (2005-2013), Nisani served as Minister of Interior and Minister of Justice.
He was President of Albania from 2012 to 2017.
