Albania, Turkey sign seven agreements – Albanian square to be named after Erdogan

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met at the Prime Ministerial Palace in Tirana this afternoon, where seven agreements were signed between the two governments.

Initially, a co-operation agreement was signed between the Turkish news agency Anadolu and the Albanian Telegraph Agency. Then, a memorandum of understanding on co-operation in the training of law enforcement units between the governments of Turkey and Albania.

The two Ministers of Education signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the Sector of Youth and Sports.

The Turkish president attended the inauguration ceremony of the Et’hem Bey Mosque in the capital.

Erdogan arrived in Albania today to inaugurate apartments donated by Turkey to residents affected by the November 26, 2019 earthquake in Albania.

Speaking from the northeastern city of Laci, Erdogan said that “the principle of brotherhood requires that we stay close when we need it and not when we are called.”

“Today we are handing over these 522 housing units that cost about 42 million euros. I want to wish all the families a happy stay. I thank God that even during this process, even though Turkey was tested with many natural disasters, earthquakes We have fulfilled our promise to Albania and the Albanians, and I hope that this friendship with such a strong foundation will continue indefinitely. “We did the opposite. We went outside our borders to stay close to our brothers at every opportunity we had,” Erdogan said.

The provincial capital’s main square will be renamed “Recep Tayyip Erdogan Square”.

A summary of the irony is the fact that Erdogan’s visit to Albania took place on the day of the national anniversary of the death of Georgios Kastriotis or Skanderbeg, the national hero of Albania in the fight against the Ottomans.
