«Albert Watson: TWELVE»: this is how Audi pays homage to the genius of Albert Watson

Light as a form of energy and a source of communication and connection. In line with the installation imagined and created by the Marcel Wanders Studio entitled Enlightening the future, l’Audi City Lab in Via della Spiga 26, in the heart of Milan, continues to be the protagonist thanks to the splendid exhibition Albert Watson: TWELVE, which celebrates the inspiration and genius of one of the world’s best known and most appreciated photographers: Albert Watson. Through the exhibition of 12 of his most famous works – open every day from 10.00 to 20.00, until 27 September -, Audi City Lab audiences will be able to touch the concentration of emotions that each photograph brings with them, but also the expressive charge made even more memorable by the skilful use of light, the central node of both Watson’s work and mission of Audi, attentive to a future full of planning and vision.

Among the activities, installations and previews proposed by the hub of the four rings from 5 to 27 September, there was also a very special encounter between Albert Watson himself and the director and screenwriter Luca Guadagnino, who on the evening of 23 September talked about photography and cinema, trying to understand how innovation, progress and digitization are affecting our lives and, consequently, the works of those who tell about reality. Together they retraced their intense professional careers, highlighting how art in its various forms has evolved, changing the expressive language and the way of telling stories and realities. Both Watson and Guadagnino, through their works, have tried to give shape to visions and intuitions, fixing them in images that are imprinted in the memory in perfect harmony with Audi, for which the future is an attitude.

Along with this wonderful journey through light, technology and innovation, a few hours before the meeting with Guadagnino moderated by Alessia Glaviano, Senior Photo Editor of Vogue, Brand Visual Director of Vogue Italy and Director of the Photo Vogue Festival with which Audi has been collaborating since its first edition has been actively collaborating for years, the Audi City Lab has also welcomed an exceptional guest: si tratta di Anna Wintour, Global Editorial Director and U.S. Editor-in-Chief Vogue and Chief Content Officer Condé Nast, who met the Scottish photographer, present at the vernissage. Together with Anna Wintour, Albert Watson illustrated his artistic path marked by the portraits of David Bowie and Steve Jobs, from the beauty shots of Kate Moss through the artistic interpretations of Andy Warhol and Mick Jagger. An encounter, the one between Wintour and Watson, under the banner of the visionary creativity of two iconic characters who have excited public and readers with their images, and continue to excite. The exhibition Albert Watson: TWELVE combines perfectly with the immersive installation of the Audi City Lab, the beating heart of a project whose inspiration comes from various forms of expression and design with which Audi develops the theme of lighting by translating it into its cars.
