Fashion and culture cross their paths again and Venezia, city in the spotlight of the world these days for the Venice Film Festival which is hosting for the 78th time and, in recent times, a location beloved by fashion designers, is the meeting point. To celebrate the 1600th anniversary of the foundation of this unique place for culture and topography, a bridge between West and East, Alberta Ferretti, which already in 2017 dedicated an entire collection to the lagoon city, staged a capsule collection in the prestigious setting of one of the most enchanting and sumptuous Venetian palaces, Ca ‘Rezzonico, home to the Museo del Settecento Veneziano.
The initiative, sponsored by the Municipality of Venice, has the charitable purpose of supporting the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia.
A parade of magnificent and precious dresses in which the designer has woven a dialogue of craftsmanship and creativity with the historic Rubelli company, now in its fifth generation, engaged since 1889 in the production of fabrics characterized by an accurate historical research on the Venetian tradition: very light and marbled silk damasks, as well as transpositions textiles of the imprinted leathers typical of the local baroque.
For the creation of blown glass jewels (sparkling flames, sinuous tongues, inflorescences and Venetian pearls) the choice of the fashion house fell on Massimiliano Schiavon, heir to a family dedicated to glass processing for six generations.
Cascades of fringes, velvet and lace inlays on tulle, pleats soleil, phytomorphic embroideries draw elongated and magical silhouettes, made graceful by hoods that envelop in mystery. Long dresses elevate the figure, opening into wide skirts, melting into fluid draperies. The fluffy shirts worn with trousers add a seductive and masculine note. The bright palette is metallic and nocturnal, woven into the fabrics and blended into the jewels. Venice, beyond fashion, beyond style, beyond history, revealed, again, between dream and reality.
