Alberto Núñez Feijóo claims “the model of the Galician PP” so that Catalonia “returns to the forefront in Europe”

For the national leadership of the PP, these Catalan elections they are not just another election date. The candidacy of Alejandro Fernández she has been tucked in weekly since November by Pablo Casado, who knows that a good result on February 14th it would also be a boost to his leadership.

Already in full campaign, the most important territorial leaders of the party are joining the events organized in different points of Catalua. After the visit, last weekend, of the president of the Madrid’s community, Isabel DÃaz Ayuso, and the mayor of the capital, Josà © Luis MartÃnez-Almeida, today it was Alberto NÃez Feijoo who has shown his support, in a telematic act, to the list headed by Fernández.

“Catalonia needs more reforms and fewer ruptures to return to the first level of avant-garde in Europe”, has advised the president of the Xunta de Galicia, which, with the credentials granted by its four consecutive absolute majorities, has vindicated “the model of Galician Popular Party”both in economic management and in the cohabitation of official languages.

After several years with the identity debate monopolizing the media agenda, the PP has wanted to recover the politics of economic growth and job creation as its hallmarks also in Catalonia. For this reason, Feijóo has focused a good part of his speech on the field of management and aid to the productive sectors: “We have shown that the way out of a crisis can be programmed with tax cuts”.

The president of the Xunta considers that the independence “It has turned the enterprising, open and cosmopolitan Catalonia into a closed and self-absorbed place, from where companies and financial institutions leave”. His recipe for a community that has a high number of citizens of Galician origin is to “manage the pandemic, unite society and initiate an economic and employment recovery. ”

Feijóo has not missed the occasion of making the flag of “the defense with pride of the Constitution, of freedom and that España that respects the diversity of languages. “Likewise, although without mentioning them, he has criticized the PSOE and Salvador Illa for” saying ‘no’ to the independentists, but governing the whole of Spain with them. “In his speech, the candidate Fernà ¡Ndez has praised the government action of the leader of the popular Galicians, “a president for all”, who has opposed the “sectarianism” of the secessionist executives in Catalonia.

The event with the president of the Xunta was held in the midst of a controversy over his discrepancies with Ayuso’s decision to keep the hospitality business. “Madrid has opted for a decision for which I would not feel responsible if I had to apply it in Galicia and, therefore, I have opted for another,” Feijóo said in an interview published today in The voice of Galicia.

Precisely on Saturday in Barcelona, the Madrilenian president spoke unequivocally about the restrictions on economic activity imposed by the Generalitat: “It is a crime that everything is closed with the climate that exists in Catalonia”.

Casado has tried to remove iron from the matter and, in an interview on Cadena Ser, has assured that Feijóo and Ayuso “are doing exactly the same” to face the coronavirus, but that “the demographic distribution [de sus respectivas comunidades] It is not the same”.
