Alckmin says that tax reform needs to be voted on in 2023: “It cannot lose the power of the vote”

The Vice-President of the Republic and Minister of Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), said, in an interview with journalist Pedro Bial, that he is confident that the tax reform “will go ahead” in the Lula government.

“Why now do I think you will? Lula leads this committed work, Haddad is convinced that it is necessary, the opposition that could make it difficult is more liberal, so in theory it will help, the president of the Chamber and of the Senate declared that they will commit themselves”, he explained.

Alckmin stressed that it is a way for the political world to show its capacity for dialogue and result, however, he pointed out that it should be done as soon as possible.

“You can’t miss the first year. If possible, in the first semester already have to vote in the first round. It’s the honeymoon, you can’t lose that power of the vote, ”he declared.

For him, there has to be a sense of urgency. “For those who lose the election, four years is a century, for those who win, when you open your eyes, it’s over. It has to be quick,” he said.

As Minister of Industry, Commerce and Services, Alckmin said he can promise the market an agenda of competitiveness, economic efficiency and fiscal responsibility.

He also commented that he feels very good next to President Lula. “He has experience, public spirit, sees the population that suffers the most and knows that the path is economic growth”.
