Alerj approves police hiring to make bus security in RJ

The Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj) approved, on the afternoon of Wednesday (9), a program that It provides for the hiring of military, civilian, criminal and municipal guards on days off to work on buses circulating in the metropolitan region of the state capital .

Named “Safe Bus”, Bill 4.404/24 is through the Additional Service Regime (RAS) of Security Agents.

“We need to take security to the population that travels by bus in our metropolitan region. The worker people, when he leaves home, runs the risk of robbery on the bus – I’m not even talking on the street – and when he comes home, he runs the same risk. Time goes by and nothing different happens. So the project is exactly to mitigate this issue,” said PL author Luiz Paulo (PSD).

According to the text, program will be implemented according to the rates of violence and risk factors monitored by the state intelligence sectors. In addition, agents will also be able to work at bus stops and terminals.

The viability of security professionals should happen by conducting an agreement between the State Government, the municipalities of Baixada Fluminense and the Federation of Passenger Transport Companies of the State of Rio (Fetranspor).

The measure, now approved, goes to the sanction of Governor Claudio Castro, who will have 15 business days to sanction or veto it.
