Aachen police said in a statement: “The clinic is one of the most important in the hospital. According to current information, a woman (65 years old) entered the hospital in the afternoon. A short time later, workers noticed smoke near the woman. The 65-year-old has collapsed in a room. The surrounding rooms have been evacuated. Special forces are on the scene.”
The area around the hospital has been cordoned off by police, who are asking people to stay away from the clinic for now.
The hospital has 378 beds and employs approximately 1,600 people.
