An alarm has been raised at South Wales following an incident of “serious assault” in Aberfan, near a school. Reports indicate that a knife attack took place.
The result was for the authorities to decide the closing of many schools on Tuesday morning, while police forces and ambulances rushed to the scene.
“Emergency services are responding to the serious assault which took place in Moy Road, Aberfan, Merthyr shortly before 9.10am. this morning. Armed officers are in the area and we are asking the public to avoid the area so that we can effectively deal with this incident,” said a relevant police statement posted on X.
At least one person has reportedly been taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.
