Alessandro Dassi (Fosun Tourism Group): The three reasons we invest in Greek tourism

of Vicky Kourlibini

Eight Casa Cook and Cook’s Club hotels will be operated this season in Greece by Fosun Tourism Group. Four new ones will open in May in Rhodes, Corfu, Mykonos and Samos, which will be added to the units already operating in Rhodes, Kos and Crete.

The vice president of the Chinese group Alessandro Dassi was in Athens yesterday to present the new investments and the reasoning that Greece has found at the center of the design of the hotel giant. As he mentioned, there are three main reasons why our country is attracting so much interest.

First, the fact that Greece is considered a safe destination, having managed the Covid pandemic very well. He estimated that Greek tourism will take an important part of the tourist pie this year, a dynamic that is expected to be maintained in the coming seasons.

Secondly, that Greece, due to its many islands, is ideal for the emergence of new tourist destinations, with the group wanting to offer its customers different options. It is no coincidence that one of the new units that will open in May is in Samos, with a capacity of 128 beds.

Finally, the fact that the Greek hotel market is open to innovation and the new projects that the group plans to offer helped.

The vice president of Fosun Tourism Group also said that despite the challenges, last season went well. The company will accelerate its development plan in the country, doubling the number of hotels in both traditional and up-and-coming destinations by 2023.

Fosun Tourism Group’s portfolio this season includes a total of 15 Casa Cook and Cook’s Club hotels in top tourist destinations in Greece, Egypt, Turkey, Spain and Bulgaria. In Greece the hotels that will operate are the following: Casa Cook Rhodes, Casa Cook Samos, Casa Cook Mykonos, Cook’s Club Hersonissos, Cook’s Club Tigaki Kos, Cook’s Club Rhodes City Beach, Cook’s Club Ialysos Rhodes, Cook’s Club Corfu.

The group also begins expansion and renovation of the historic Club Med in Gregolimano, Evia.
