Alexandra of Hannover, the youngest daughter of Caroline of Monaco turns 22 (and thinks about the wedding)
Ha celebrated its 22 years, just completed, without glitz or fuss. On the other hand, the charm of Alexandra of Hanover it resides above all in its being discreet, unlike her father. The daughter of Caroline of Monaco and Ernst of Hanover lives a kind of paradox: is one of the least known princesses in Europe and at the same time it is the holder of the largest number of Grimaldi shares. Alexandra, in fact, is Princess von Hannover, Duchess of Brunswick and Lüneburg and Princess of Great Britain and Ireland, although she has no succession rights to the English crown because she was baptized with a Catholic rite.
Very attached to her older sister Charlotte, 12 years her senior, and to cousins Camille Gottlieb, 24 years old, e Pauline Ducruet, 27, both daughters of Stephanie di Monaco, Alexandra was born in Vöcklabruck, Austria, a few months after her parents’ wedding, which was celebrated in great secrecy on January 23, 1999, officiated by Patrice Davost, president of the Council of State, and with very few guests.
Alexandra’s arrival, that July 20 22 years ago, was a breath of fresh air for Carolina, who only nine years earlier she had lost her husband Stefano Casiraghi in a tragic catamaran accident. Between Carolina and the youngest, a special bond, perhaps at the expense of the relationship with the three eldest children, Andrea, Pierre and Charlotte.
Alexandra – whose full name is Alexandra Charlotte Ulrike Maryam Virginia – is grown away from the press and the paparazzi. She lived her first ten years of life on the outskirts of Paris, in Le Mée-sur-Seine and only in the summer of 2009 did she move to the Principality of Monaco, where she attended the François d’Assise Nicolas Barré Catholic Institute.
Alexandra’s first public appearance occurred at age 12, alongside her mother, at a Chanel fashion show. At 16, he made his official social debut at the Principality’s Rose Ball, where for the first time he timidly posed in front of photographers together with his mother and sister Charlotte.
Great passionate about fashion, Alexandra is a ‘excellent ice skater. At the age of ten he received his first skates and has never stopped training since. In 2015 he represented Monaco at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Austria and in 2016 at the Junior Figure Skating Grand Prix. His other great passion is literature. She herself admitted to being one “Book eater”. Among his favorite novels are two great classics of contemporary literature such as The young Holden by JD Salinger e The unbearable lightness of being at Milan Kundera.
After school, also to escape the pressure of the media, she moved to New York, in the footsteps of his cousin Pauline Ducret, to study Political Science and Philosophy at Columbia University. Not much is known about his life in Manhattan. You know that loves to ride a bicycle, spend time with cousins who like her are overseas and frequent fine restaurants and clubs. In the’only interview which he released to the magazine Telva, just over a year ago, Alexandra confessed that his dream is to devote himself to the world of art or fashion.
For about five years the youngest child of Carolina of Monaco has been romantically linked to the same age Ben-Sylvester Strautmann, scion of the family of German millionaires, originally from Lower Saxony, who made their fortune thanks to the transport of agricultural machinery. Sculptural physique, Ben is a basketball player and part of the Munich national team, but he also has a passion for music and has worked as a DJ. The couple were first photographed together in November 2016, at the No Finish Line Charity Race. Since then, Ben has participated in several Grimaldi family events, such as the Charlotte’s wedding with Dimitri Rassam in the summer of 2019 at the Royal Palace.
Every summer Alexandra and Ben enjoy their holidays in Saint Tropez aboard the Pacha III, the yacht that Stefano Casiraghi donated to Carolina in 1989. A few days ago they were immortalized as they strolled through the streets of the beautiful town on the Côte d’Azur with their dachshund dog. Happy and in love as always. The French media have no doubts: in the Principality of Monaco, soon, a new one will be staged royal wedding.
