Alexandre Borges and Marcelo Drummond kiss in a play

On display with the play Waiting for Godot at the End of the World at the Carlos Gomes Municipal Theater, in Rio de Janeiro, the actors Alexandre Borges 58, and Marcelo Drummond 60, star in a kiss scene drawing applause from the audience.

The show is the last production that playwright Zé Celso Martinez (1937-2023) directed at Teatro Oficina, in São Paulo.

Marcelo and Zé had been together since 1987, but only made their union official 36 years later, in 2023 – shortly before the director died in July of that year, after a fire hit his apartment.

In the editing, with dramaturgy by Samuel Beckett they live the artists play Vladimir and Estragão, clowns who live with hopelessness and who, at the end of the world, find themselves, while waiting for salvation from a divine entity.

The play runs until December 8th, with sessions on Thursdays and Fridays, at 7pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays, at 5pm, with tickets available at Eleven Tickets.
