The securing of the license from RAE for the implementation of a second FSRU in Thrace, announced today, from the podium of today’s event for the start of the implementation of the first floating gas storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in Alexandroupolis, the vice president and director Gastrade SA of the Kopelouzos Group Kostis Sifneos.
Emphasizing the importance of the FSRU project not only for our country but also for the wider region of Southeastern Europe, the Vice President and CEO of Gastrade SA stressed: “Alexandroupolis is the entrance but Bulgaria is the connecting link of the supply chain “that the project is coming to supply on the way to Serbia, Romania and now with the second FSRU, which we announce here that it was now licensed last Thursday by RAE, to Moldova and Ukraine”.
“Alexandroupolis”, noted Mr. Sifneos, “is an open place that thirsts for progress and investments and with our projects – what we are launching today and the next – we contribute to the creation of a real regional energy hub in the region that will strengthen economy, security and cooperation “.
Mr. Sifneos, after thanking the whole team of the company for the excellent work that led to the start of implementation of the first FSRU in Alexandroupolis, praised the contribution of the institutions and the residents of the city. “I do not think there was any other place in Greece that would believe in the project”, such as the hostess Alexandroupoli and Thrace, he said and thanked the mayor, all his predecessors and all the bodies: the port authority, the port, the chamber, the press and above all the citizens of Alexandroupolis.
“In this goal”, he added, “the Region also has a say, since its own limits run through other important energy infrastructures, such as TAP and IGB, the brother of the FSRU project”.
In this context, he thanked the Region (the Regional Governor and the Deputy Regional Governor), but also a “real philhellene”, as he characterized the outgoing US Ambassador to Greece Jeffrey Payat.
