Alice Campello: «They gave me 17 transfusions, I risked losing my uterus»

That something had not gone as expected, the fans had guessed from the sudden silence on the Instagram profile of the Venetian influencer, after the announcement that she would give birth the next day. Then, her confirmation on the profile of her husband, the footballer Alvaro Moratawhere a message had appeared in which he explained that Alice was fine but was under observation in intensive care: “He had complications that made us worry a lot,” he wrote, “But he is strong and is recovering little by little ».

The Venetian influencer, 27, already mother of the twins Alexander And Leonardo4 years old, and of Edward, 2, gave birth to her fourth daughter Bella on January 9 in Madrid. A highly anticipated birth, given that a baby girl was in the couple’s dreams.

After the birth, however, postpartum complications arose, a heavy haemorrhage that required Alice to be immediately hospitalized in intensive care.

How exactly things went, she told herself, host of the January 28 episode of very trueexplaining in detail what happened at one point, while holding the little girl in her arms beautiful.

What happened after giving birth

Alice explains that the birth took place with an already planned caesarean section, and that it was her « most beautiful » birth. However, the problems arose later: «Everything went very well, I also had the baby in my arms, but when I came out (from the delivery room, ed) at some point I started to feel bad, I moved the blanket and saw massive bleeding». At that moment, Alvaro was his concern because «when he sees that I’m sick, he immediately worries about me. I looked at her face and saw it turn white.’
From that moment on, Alice no longer remembers anything: it was 10.30 in the morning and she woke up at 10 in the evening. All this time she has been intubated and received well 17 blood transfusions.

«The bleeding never stopped. The luck was that initially it was abundant, then it decreased and the doctors were able to intervene looking for ways to stop it. In the end they succeeded by using a balloon and inserting it inside the uterus. We waited until two o’clock the following day. At that point they told me: “Let’s try to remove it, if the bleeding is over we can be calm, but if it continues we have to think about removing the uterus”. Thank God, however, once the balloon was removed, everything went well».

But the image that has remained etched in Alice’s memory is not so much that of the medical team who was treating her, but that of the shocked expression of her family when she woke up in the evening: «I saw Alvaro’s face, my mother’s… it was really difficult. Especially the children, who were waiting to meet their little sister and couldn’t come to see me and who asked, asked questions. No one explained to them clearly what had happened, but it is as if they understood: when I woke up they sent me their photo, showing me that one had also fallen asleep with my photo in his hand”.

“These are things that touch you forever, they stay inside you,” concluded Alice. “Now they lead me to look at life with different eyes».
