Yandex, a Russian tech company that builds products ranging from the country’s dominant search engine to a taxi service, is facing a looming hardware shortage due to US sanctions.
According to Bloomberg, Yandex in the next year and a half may experience a clear shortage of semiconductor products needed for the servers that the company uses to power its business. This was reported immediately by two people directly aware of the problem, who asked not to be named.

Sanctions on dual-use technologies that have both military and commercial applications hit Yandex’s self-driving car division particularly hard, they said.
However, the lack of server hardware, according to experts, may affect the work of the entire company: from the Yandex search engine and cloud business, to Yandex Music and Yandex Market services.
The company’s management is already looking for ways out of the current situation and does not rule out structural changes.
