All possible work to be done in the Metaverse

Will the Metaverse Really Be the Next Big Web Jolt? Given the premises, the answer tends towards affirmative, given that the Virtual Reality (VR) industry is growing at a frenetic pace. In 2020 the size of the business linked to the Metaverse was around 50 billion dollars but according to an estimate by Grayscale, an online platform that manages investment funds in cryptocurrencies, in 2024 it will reach 800 billion.

But it is important to know that there is no Metaverse without it blockchain. The entire architecture of the Metaverse, of the so-called web3, is based precisely on the blockchain, decentralized databases that act as certificates of authenticity and security for all types of digital information. They are also used for NFTs (non fungible tokens). And in a future that is knocking on the door, among the trends that shape the world of work there will be the Metaverse, which will play a fundamental role in offering new professions and new ways of doing them.

An analysis of LinkedIn revealed a spike in crypto-related job vacancies in 2021 with blockchain industry announcements in the US market increasing by more than 395% between 2020 and 2021. This growth in the crypto space outpaces the growth of the broader tech market, which saw a 98% increase in jobs over the same period. Most of these jobs fall within the software and finance industries. Other industries include services such as accounting, consulting, personnel, and even computer hardware, with blockchain developers and engineers being some of the most sought-after roles.

Thanks to these characteristics, the blockchain has become a technology with a transversal impact in many production sectors, starting from finance (which occupies 38% of today’s applications of the blockchain, e.g. cryptocurrencies) and involving industries such as art and media (7%). ), agrifood (6%) and logistics (5%). Giancarlo Valente, CTO of aulabthe first Italian Coding Factory that gave life to the course Hackademyis convinced that there are at least five professions destined to be increasingly important and in demand in the Metaverse economy.

Here are the 5 jobs of the future in the economy of the Metaverse

Web3 Developer
The web3 developer must have all the basic skills of web developers. The only difference will be specialization: in the case of web3 developers, this will take place on topics related to the blockchain and its various “standards”.

Cybersecurity expert
In this phase of technological evolution, the architecture of the web3 is still young and can be perfected. Precisely for this reason, one of the most relevant professions in the development of the blockchain-based metaverse will certainly be that of cybersecurity experts: these professionals will have the task of secure web environments3 controlled by blockchain and to ensure that the systems already implemented effectively guarantee the tightness of the “chain”.

Virtual reality and augmented reality designer
The most complete experience of the metaverse is the one created with virtual reality and augmented reality technologies. Just as the explosion of the web has led to the spread of the figure of the web designer, the metaverse opens up new opportunities for professionals who develop and create virtual and augmented reality environments. These are methods and skills that derive for example from the world of video games and that require you to take into account 3D environments that interact with the physical dimension of the real and offline world. Web3 designers will have a fundamental role in giving a “shape” to the new digital spaces that we will live in.

Innovation manager
As it consolidates, the web3 will become a crucial evolutionary hub for companies of all types and sizes. As both theoretical and practical expert, the innovation manager will therefore have the task of helping these companies to exploit the opportunities of the metaverse and blockchainguiding digitalization and transformation processes to renew business models and thus open up new business opportunities in unexplored spaces.

Crypto artist
Digital art has always had a hard time becoming a business, as it was very easy to reproduce and therefore it was difficult to attribute uniqueness, ownership and value to it. Thanks to the blockchain, new certificates of ownership of digital assets such as pixel art or other forms of digital creativity have been developed. They are called NFT (non-fungible token) and allow artists, also known as crypto artist, to create certificates of authenticity of digital works to be able to sell them to enthusiasts and collectors just like in the traditional art market, but obviously paid in crypto currency.
