All social media accounts of the (new) White House

Biden arrives at the White House and also evicts Trump from social media. The handover of accounts has just been completed, starting with Twitter. On the platform, which banned the tycoon’s personal profile after the Capitol Hill events, the account @Potus (which stands for President of the United States) is now officially in the hands of the forty-sixth president.

“There is no time to waste in the face of the crises we face”, Biden wrote in his first tweet from Washington.

“That’s why I’m going to the Oval Office today to get straight to work to do concrete things and give American families immediate relief”

@Potus cont 4.9 million followers, of which a part arrived directly from @PresElectBiden, the transitory account created as soon as the victory was collected. Twitter, in fact, has decided to reset the number of followers of the presidential account: if Trump – who has always personally managed only his personal account on the platform – has inherited Obama’s followers, Biden did not inherit those of Trump, 33 million people.

A decision that – obviously – was criticized by those in charge of the communication of the new president, but Twitter was categorical: “These institutional accounts will not automatically keep the followers of the previous administration.” Is written in a post relating to the handover of all accounts to the new White House number one: in addition to the president, First Lady Jill Biden who will take the account @Flotus first run by Melania Trump, and Vice President Kamala Harris who is now traditionally on Twitter @VP.

Nothing has changed, however, for the former «Second Gentleman» of the history of the United States of America. It’s about the lawyer Douglas Emhoff, husband of Kamala Harris, and above all the first husband (and not wife) of an American vice president, who has also been nicknamed on all social platforms. @SecondGentleman is his Twitter account (where he made his debut with a very romantic post for “Wife, mother, sister, aunt, and now Madam Vice President” Kamala Harris), and his Instagram account (where, however, he has not posted anything for now).

@Potus, @Flotus @VP and @SecondGentleman, the names of the Twitter accounts, remain the same on Instagram and Facebook too, where, however, in terms of followers nothing will change: Menlo Park has made no changes.

What happened to Trump? For now on social media he can not say anything: suspended from Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, even from Twitch the only social traces that remain of the former president of the United States are two Twitter accounts – @ Potus45 and @ WhiteHouse45 (45 as his 45th term) – which recount some of the highlights of his work in Washington. In short, Trump is in the archives. Old story. In the gallery above all the White House accounts to follow
