All subscriptions in one place: Windows 11 settings will get a useful innovation

A few months ago, in October 2021, Microsoft developers released a preview build of the Windows 11 operating system, in which users found a very interesting innovation – a new section with subscriptions appeared in the settings. In it, you can view current subscriptions to various services like Microsoft 365, Xbox Game Pass and more, as well as manage these subscriptions, view your account balance, the cost of each service, and so on. Naturally, the new feature has been tested for a long time, and now it is gradually being prepared for a full rollout for all members of the Microsoft Insider Program.

What’s more, the new “Your Microsoft Account” section is currently just one step away from being released in the stable version of the operating system. The fact is that last week a fresh cumulative update in the Beta and Release Preview channels gave some users access to a new settings page, in which an item appeared with subscriptions and their management functions. But, it is worth noting that in order to gain access to the new page, you must install the version of Windows 11 22000.466 (KB5008353) or later – if an older version is indicated in the PC properties, then there is no point in looking for a panel with subscriptions.

Also, the first users who got access to the new settings page report that in the menu you can see not only the current plan, subscription price, renewal date and plan benefits, but also explore payment options, view your order history and more. But users did not find the subscription cancellation button – first you will need to click on the “Manage” button, then go to the Microsoft website, open your account and only cancel the active subscription there. The function itself is quite convenient, but, of course, it is problematic to call it a bright innovation – similar pages with subscriptions already exist on iOS and macOS.
