For former Rio de Janeiro Civil Police Secretary Allan Turnowski, he surrendered on Tuesday night (6) to the Corporation’s Corregedoria. The information was confirmed by the Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration (Seap), who reported that he entered the José Frederico Marques prison in Benfica, on the morning of Wednesday (7).
In a statement, Turnowski’s defense reported that he spontaneously complied with the court order yesterday (06/05) and stressed that he had been free for more than three years, fulfilling all fully alternative measures. The lawyers also stated that they have already filed requests for revision and revocation of the arrest in the Supreme Court, the STJ and the first instance.
As determined by CNN Turnowski had his pre-trial detention restored by the Second Class of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) last Thursday (1st).
Defendant for criminal organization, he is accused of involvement with the animal game. The former secretary had been previously arrested, but was less than a month in jail. At the time, Minister Kassio Nunes Marques revoked the arrest, imposing precautionary measures such as the delivery of the passport and the ban on accessing the Civil Police and the Public Security Bureau.
The Federal Public Prosecution Service (MPF) appealed the decision in October 2022, and the second class of the Supreme Court tried the appeal between April 18 and 29 this year, in virtual session.
The case runs in a secret of justice. Kassio kept his vote for the freedom of Turnowski, being accompanied by Dias Toffoli. However, Edson Fachin diverged and was followed by Gilmar Mendes and André Mendonça, forming the majority who restored pre -trial detention.
