An alligator invaded a residence on Rua Petrópolis, in Realengo, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, after heavy rains that hit the region overnight on Wednesday (3). The resident of the house recorded images of the wild animal in her backyard.
In the video, which is circulating on social media, the resident, frightened by the whole situation, reports: “Guys, look at the absurdity! An alligator in my backyard, I opened the window and came across an alligator!”, says the resident in the video, whose identity was not disclosed.
According to the images, at no point does the animal appear aggressive. He remains within a flood point as the rain continues.
According to the Fire Department, after being called by the resident, the agents had difficulty accessing the location due to the numerous flooding points in the neighborhood. Since Wednesday night (3), heavy rains have hit several regions of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
In the last 24 hours, throughout Rio de Janeiro, the corporation responded to around 40 incidents related to rain.
In contact with the resident, the military was informed that the animal had already been captured and removed from the residence by members of the public.
According to the corporation, people took the animal to a type of forest away from the neighborhood and released it there.
A CNN is awaiting a return from the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Environmental Secretariat to check whether any type of inspection was carried out in the neighborhood after the incident.
