Almeida shoots 52% investment in Budgets to “reactivate” Madrid after the Covid crisis

“Reactivate the economy of the city” and “avoid a social gap of inequality”. These are the two premises that the mayor of Madrid, Josà © Luis MartÃnez-Almeida, has wielded this Monday in the presentation of the Budget project for the year 2021. Some accounts that the councilor has exposed as “investors” destined precisely to the investment section 488 million with an increase of 169 million and that represents a 52% increase compared to 2020.

“This government team is clear about the needs that we must alleviate with the social and health crisis after the pandemic,” the mayor previously stated to detail what will be the items for street cleaning and green areas, works , the social emergency or tourism in Budgets that increase spending by 8% from 4,686 million in 2020 to 5,066 million in 2021 and reduce their income by 164 million euros due to the health crisis and the tax ordinances that include a tax reduction of 107 million.

Some data that have been described by the deputy mayor, Begoà ± a VillacÃs, as “realistic” in the face of the “difficult economic situation” and “without inflating income as the Government of the Nation has done.” Within these data, the municipal number two has highlighted the increase of 14% in the item of social spending, 9% in families and 17% in housing. “We are in a very difficult situation and it may get worse in the coming months,” he remarked.

This is one of the main points in the increase in investment in the Budget of the Madrid City Council, but the greatest increases are registered in the Area of ​​Environment and Mobility, the Area of ​​Works and Equipment or the Delegated Area of ​​Tourism. Street cleaning will increase its departure by 45% with a view to the presentation of the new comprehensive contract that will begin next summer; green areas, 63%; construction projects, 36% to reach 206 million, and investment in tourism, 52%.
