Almost 50,000 points in Rio Grande do Sul remain without electricity after the storm

Around 49,000 points in Rio Grande do Sul remain in the dark since the storm that hit the state last Tuesday (16), according to concessionaires RGE Sul and CEEE Equatorial.

According to a bulletin published by the state government, more than a million people were without power supply on the night of the storm, and 128 municipalities had their telephone and internet connections cut.

According to the bulletin updated at 6pm this Sunday (21), Tim customers in Rio Grande do Sul are still experiencing problems accessing these services in 5 cities.

Also this afternoon, Civil Defense reported that more than 200,000 people were affected and more than 500 were homeless. In addition to the second death confirmed yesterday, another 12 people are injured as a result of the storm at the beginning of the week.

Civil Defense confirms 2 deaths

The Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul reported this Saturday (20) that the rains that hit the state last week caused a second death. A body was found yesterday in Porto Alegre.

The victim is a motorcycle courier who had been missing since the storm on Tuesday (16). At the time, the capital suffered from flooding, gusts of wind, falling trees and interruption of electricity supply in several neighborhoods.

At the beginning of the week, a death had been reported in the city of Cachoeirinha, located in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre. A supermarket marquee fell on a homeless man who was trying to protect himself from the rain. He did not survive his injuries.
