Almost 90 municipalities of Alagoas are on alert for heavy rains

For the third consecutive day, residents of the cities of Alagoas, less in the state’s backlands, dawned on alert to the occurrence of heavy rains.

According to the bulletin released on Tuesday (20) by the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), 84 of the 102 municipalities are on orange (danger) and yellow (potential danger) alert.

The yellow level indicates rainfall between 20 and 30 millimeters per hour, or up to 50 millimeters throughout the day. The orange level signals stronger rains, which can reach 30 to 60 millimeters per hour or between 50 and 100 millimeters per day, with greater risk of natural disasters.

Maceió is one of 37 cities on orange alert. On social networks, residents shared the situation faced in some neighborhoods. In Jacintinho, one of the most populous in the capital, a motorcyclist was dragged by the flood on Monday night after falling into a hole. He was rescued by residents with the help of rope. Still in Maceió, in the waterfront region, buildings of buildings were completely flooded over the weekend and virtually submerged vehicles. In the central region, guests of a wedding were island.

According to the Civil Defense, the metropolitan, North and Zona da Mata regions are the hardest hit in Alagoas. In all, 377 people are homeless or homeless in the state.

Inmet advises that the population avoid facing bad weather, observe changes in slopes and avoid using electronic devices linked to the shot during rains. In case of emergency, the Civil Defense (199) or the Fire Department (193) should be called.
