AvtoVAZ continues to strengthen its positions in the Russian car market. Almost half of the cars sold in Russia in November 2022 came from LADA, as evidenced by a new report from the Association of European Businesses (AEB).
A total of 46,403 new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in Russia in November 2022, down 61.6% year-on-year, according to the AEB. 21,726 of them are LADA cars. Now they occupy 46.8% of the Russian car market against 21.8% in November 2021. Haval is in second place by a wide margin. This Chinese brand sold 4552 new cars last month, taking 9.8% of the domestic market. Also, another Chinese brand entered the top three among manufacturers of passenger cars. This is Geely, whose cars were bought 3,506 times in November.
LADA Granta remains the best-selling new car in Russia in November. Last month, 13,015 buyers chose it, while a year ago, November sales of this domestic model were almost half as much – only 7,231. The second most popular SUV family is LADA Niva, which includes LADA Niva Travel and Niva Legend. Sales of these vehicles also doubled over the year, from 3,618 in November 2021 to 6,898 in November 2022. The “bronze” of the Russian car market went to the Haval Jolion crossover from China, which sold 2021 copies. Geely Coolray accounted for 1,678 sales in November, placing it in fourth place in the market. The TOP-5 of the best-selling Chinese cars in Russia is closed by the Haval F7, which acquired 1,298 new owners in the last month of autumn.
