Chinese automakers can safely be called the most productive in the global car market. Approximately every second new car released in 2022 was Chinese. Now the “Chinese” occupy approximately the same market share in terms of the number of new models announced in 2022 as the European and Japanese brands combined.
In total, during 2022, manufacturers introduced or put into production 131 new production vehicles. This does not include rebranded models, facelifted vehicles, and concept cars. Chinese manufacturers lead in terms of the number of new cars produced – they account for 47% of all new cars produced. Japanese auto brands are in second place with a 20% share, and European brands close the top three with an indicator of 18%. The share of American manufacturers is 10%, another 3% belongs to Korean brands, while Russian and Indian manufacturers each took 1%.
Since January 1, 2022, Chinese automakers have brought 62 new models to the market – an average of 5 new cars per month. The leader among the “Chinese” was the company SAIC, which produced 10 different production cars. It is followed by Geely, whose lineup was replenished with 8 new cars, and Great Wall released 6 new serial models this year.
Among all manufacturers, the Japanese Toyota presented the most new models in the past year – four SUVs, three sedans, three minivans and one city car.
