Almost like in Telegram: WhatsApp will have chat filtering for all users

Despite the fact that WhatsApp is still not as multifunctional messenger as, for example, Telegram, it now offers a lot more features than a couple of years ago. The developers have added many new features lately, including multi-device support, self-destructing messages, reactions, and more, and now the service team intends to make it easier to manage all chats using filters.

Last year, the company introduced advanced search to the beta version of WhatsApp Business for Android, iOS, and PC, adding a few simple chat filters. This feature is available only to corporate users, it allows you to filter chats based on unread messages, contacts that are missing and present in the address book, and groups. As the WABetaInfo resource noted, messenger developers are already testing such filters for ordinary users. The corresponding button appeared on the top bar of the desktop application, and, unlike WhatsApp Business, it will be displayed separately from the search bar.

The new feature will also be available on the Android and iOS apps. But do not expect it to be added in the very near future, usually WhatsApp tests new features for quite a long time. For active users, filters will allow you to structure the list of chats and put a certain order in your correspondence. Similar functionality has been in Telegram for a long time, but there the possibilities are more advanced by creating your own filters.
