With Alpha Bank taking the baton today in the rise and the majority of securities being in positive territory, the Athens Stock Exchange is on an upward trajectory above 930 points.
In particular, the General Index records gains of 1.10% at 936.61 points, while the turnover is at 130.2 million euros and the volume at 24.2 million units. The FTSE 25 also rose 1.51% to 2,277.07 points, while the banking index rose 3.34% to 667.41 points.
With Alpha Bank soaring, the overall index is climbing to its highest level since February 25, when it began to fall sharply to 790 points just two weeks later. And according to technical analysts, the split of 930 units will pave the way again to 950 units, the last major resistance before the four-digit levels.
The baton has now been taken by the banking sector, which is heading towards securing 660 points, the last level before returning to the levels of 700 points. And as stock sources point out, this good picture may hide some upgrade in the near future, if not on Friday.
It is reminded here that tomorrow is the last meeting of the week, as Friday is a holiday due to Easter. Thus, the trading of the portfolios that expect a good assessment of the Greek economy from Standard & Poor’s on Friday will be completed tomorrow, with the restructuring already visible in the increased turnover from yesterday.
Of course, the jump in turnover today is clearly linked to the package of 4.5 million shares that was traded shortly after the start of trading in Mytilineos. The package was traded at 17 euros and was worth 76.5 million euros. In fact, it corresponds to 3.1% of the total shares.
On the board
On the board now, Alpha Bank jumps 6.60%, with Piraeus and Eurobank gaining 3.43% and 3.03% respectively. Over 2% is the increase in ELHA, Mytilineos and Biochalko and over 1% in Titan, OPAP, Coca Cola and Lambda.
EYDAP, Motor Oil, Aegean, Ethniki, Quest, IPTO, PPC, PPA, GEK Terna and Hellenic Petroleum are moving slightly upwards, with Sarantis unchanged. On the other hand, OTE and Terna Energeiaki record small losses, with Ellactor at -1.10% and Jumbo at -1.46%.
