Alpha Bank: Starred in the refinancing of Olympia Odos

Alpha Bank’s contribution is crucial to the positive developments brought to Western Greece by the start of work on the new Patras-Pyrgos highway, through its leading participation in the refinancing of Olympia Odos and the provision of a loan for the co-financing of the new construction.

In particular, Alpha Bank, according to a relevant information, acted as Coordinator of the consortium of Greek banks and Mandated Lead Arranger for the completion of a bond loan totaling Euro 626 million to Olympia Odos for the road. – Corinth – Patras – Pyrgos – Tsakona, in order to refinance its existing borrowing and to finance the construction and commissioning of the section of the Patras – Pyrgos highway.

The General Manager of Wholesale Banking of Alpha Bank, Giannis Emiris, stated in this regard: “With the start of the works for the construction of the new Patras-Pyrgos highway, all of us at Alpha Bank feel deep satisfaction for the completion of a complex transaction that took place with the leading participation by financing a project that is expected to have a positive and multifaceted impact on the social and economic life of the region.By supporting emblematic infrastructure projects such as Olympia Odos, for which we have been operating since 2007 as a key cooperation and financing bank, we are implementing the vision to strengthen every action and every effort that is synonymous with Progress, Growth and Sustainability “.

As pointed out by the bank, the completion of this complex transaction is part of Alpha Bank’s strategy to remain firmly committed to the role it seeks to play in the development of the Greek economy, from the smallest company to the most emblematic investments.

The Bank also provided new loans of approximately € 5 billion during 2021, participating in some of the most important projects of recent years, such as the development of Peloponnese Waste Management Units, the financing of Astir Palace and the investment program. Five hotel units acquired by Blackstone in Greece, sustainability and urban renewal projects that change the image of cities, such as the Piraeus Tower, the historic building of Minion, as well as numerous financing of medium and small businesses operating in critical sectors of the economy and in emerging business sectors.

At the same time, Alpha Bank assisted its clients in raising 3 billion euros from the Greek and international capital markets and advised on important agreements, such as the development of the Egnatia Odos and the finding of investors for DEPA Infrastructure.

A breath project for Western Greece

The modern, closed Patras-Pyrgos highway, with a total length of 75 km, is an important infrastructure project with multiple benefits for the local community and economy. It is estimated that it will reduce by 40 minutes the total travel time, while it is expected to increase the level of road safety as well as to contribute to the protection of the environment.
