The team at the increasingly popular Vivaldi browser has announced a massive update to Vivaldi 4.0 that brings many new features.

Vivaldi has a built-in translator for mobile and desktop versions. If the language of the page differs from the one set in the browser by default, the corresponding icon will appear in the address bar and a pop-up window with a proposal to translate the page will appear below it. For this, the Lingvanex translation engine is used. In the settings, you can turn off the automatic translation suggestion.

Also in the desktop Vivaldi, an e-mail client appeared with a fairly wide functionality and support for various mail services.

Another innovation is an aggregator of news feeds in RSS format, made in a design similar to an email client. At the same time, you can subscribe not only to news, but also to podcasts, and even to YouTube video channels.

Another component of Vivaldi 4.0 is a calendar that can be used locally or connected to popular online services. The user can invite other participants to events, as well as accept other people’s invitations, manage tasks, and so on.

The updated Vivaldi 4.0 is available for Windows, macOS, Linux and Android. Since there are a lot of functions in the browser, the developers decided to give users a choice.

Now, when you first launch the browser, a welcome window will be displayed with three sets of functions available by default directly from the application interface – minimalism, classic set of functions, or maximum. Each of the hidden functions can then be manually activated.
Vivaldi is being developed by Opera Software founder Jon von Tetzchner, and the browser is seen as the successor to older versions of Opera.
