With the suspension of X in Brazil on the afternoon of this Friday (30), many users are looking for alternatives to the platform. Some social networks, such as Threads and Bluesky offer similar proposals to the old Twitter, based on short texts. Check it out below how to create accounts on these other digital media.
OX was suspended in the country by order of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), for not appointing a representative of the company in the national territory, failing to comply with a previous court order. OX even declared that it would not comply with the order
5 platforms to replace X and how to create accounts
Threads

Threads was launched by Meta in July 2023 to compete with what was then Twitter. The platform looks a lot like X, with a feed of text-based posts — though users can also post photos and videos — where people can have real-time conversations.
Meta said messages posted to Threads will have a 500-character limit. And users can reply to, repost, and quote other people’s thread posts.
The app works seamlessly with Instagram, featuring the photo-based social network’s existing aesthetic and navigation system, and offers the ability to share Threads posts directly to Instagram Stories.
To create a profile on the platform, you need to have an Instagram login (if you don’t have one, you’ll need to create a profile on the photo-sharing social network first). The profile is created through Instagram.
Bluesky

Developed by Jack Dorsey, creator and former CEO of Twitter, Bluesky is considered a “decentralized” Twitter.
Created using open source code, Bluesky’s differential in relation to other media is the possibility of integration between platforms and greater control over content consumption.
Bluesky’s features are very similar to Twitter – whether in terms of the resources available or the platform’s appearance. You can follow and search other people’s accounts and you can also see updates and posts from people you follow on a timeline.
You can create a free profile on the network directly on the website or in the app, available for Android and iOS. To do this, simply click on “create a new account” and enter the necessary information, such as your date of birth, email address and a password.
Mastodon

Mastodon has been around since 2016, but the small social network began to grow more quickly after the turmoil that affected Twitter, now X, since Elon Musk bought the platform.
The service has a similar look and feel to Twitter, with a timeline of short updates sorted chronologically rather than algorithmically. It allows users to join multiple different servers run by various groups and individuals, rather than a central, company-controlled platform like X, Instagram or Facebook.
Unlike larger social networks, Mastodon is free and ad-free. It is developed by a non-profit organization run by Mastodon creator Eugen Rochko and is supported by crowdfunding.
There is no technical knowledge required to create a profile, but you will need to follow a few steps to create your account and you may need to be patient as the influx of new users is overwhelming many servers.
On the network’s website, click the little drop-down menu that says “signup speed” and set it to “instant” to see servers you can connect to right away.
Next, choose a server. There are general-interest servers, like mastodon.world; regional servers like sfba.social, which is geared toward people in the Bay Area; and those that cater to a variety of interests, too. (Many servers review new applications before approving them—such as by asking potential users why they want to join—so you may have to wait if you want to join a particular one.)

Reddit is a platform that allows users to create, post, and comment on various types of content. Unlike X, users can write longer texts, such as articles, or base their posts on videos and images.
The social network is divided into several communities, called “subreddits”, dedicated to specific topics and subjects. Each community has its own rules, defined and enforced by moderators.
Users can react to posts that are considered most interesting within their communities, and these posts then have a greater reach. Reddit, however, is still only available in English.
On the network’s website or app, you can create a profile from an email address or by linking it to a phone number or to your Google or Apple profiles.
Tumblr

A success in the last decade, Tumblr is a platform that allows users to create their own “blog” and follow other people’s blogs.
You can organize your own page — which can be customized to reflect your personality — and you can follow posts from your favorite accounts on a timeline. You can like, reblog, and reply to these posts.
In addition to text, you can post videos, audio, photos and GIFs. And while some users choose to post a single format on their personal blog, others create and reblog posts in all formats.
On the network’s website or app, you can create a profile from an email address or by linking it to a phone number or to your Google and Apple profiles.
