The Amazonas Civil Police (PC-AM) served a preventive arrest warrant on Tuesday (30) against a 40-year-old man. He is accused by his ex-partner of failing to comply with a protective measure and making death threats. The man was located and arrested in the Cidade Nova neighborhood, in the northern part of the capital.
The case is being handled by the Specialized Police Station for Crimes Against Women (DECCM) in the South-Central Region. According to PatrÃcia Leão, head of the South-Central Region DECCM, the victim went to the police station to report that the man had gone to her home and burned her ex-partner’s clothes. The man threatened to kill the victim and insulted her children.
According to the police officer in charge of the case, the man does not accept the end of the relationship. The victim already had a protective order against the offender, who has a long history of domestic violence, threats and insults against the same victim.
According to the authority, based on the information gathered, the police filed a lawsuit, requesting the preventive arrest of the aggressor, and the court order was issued.
The man was taken to the headquarters of DECCM Centro-Sul, and will answer for the crimes committed. He will be sent to a custody hearing within 24 hours, and will be at the disposal of the Judiciary.
Another case of violence in Amazonas
A man accused of killing his wife was arrested by the Amazonas Civil Police. The crime took place in 2018. The victim was seven months pregnant when she was suffocated to death.
According to the investigation, the crime occurred as a result of numerous arguments between the couple, due to the fact that he did not accept the end of the relationship. According to the police authority’s report to reporter Carol Queiroz, at the time of the crime, the perpetrator was arrested, but later began responding in freedom.
The man was convicted by the courts of qualified homicide and concealment of his wife’s body. The sentence handed down established a sentence of 17 years in prison.
