AM police seize cocaine valued at R $ 12 million from Peru

The Amazonas Civil Police arrested four men and seized nearly 160 kilos of cocaine base paste. According to police, the seizure is valued at $ 12 million and came from Peru.

The drug was hidden in a fridge chamber of a vessel in São Paulo de Olivença, a city near the triple border between Brazil, Peru and Colombia.

The entire operation was performed by the Department of Organized Crime Suppression (DRCO) And it happened on Tuesday (20) in the municipality that is 985 kilometers from Manaus, capital of Amazonas. The result of the work was only released today.

In the action, the police arrested the owner of the vessel, the commander, the cargo manager and the machine manager. Police also seized the vessel, $ 15,000 in kind and two motorcycles.

According to AM Civil Police Deputy General Bruno Fraga, the seizure is a blow against criminal organizations using the Alto Solimões route to drain drugs to Manaus to other states in Brazil or countries. “Investigations will continue to identify the recipient of illicit material,” said Fraga.

Delegate Thomaz Vasconcelos Dias, who is responsible for the DRCO, pointed out that the vessel, with a capacity of 500 passengers, carried only 20 people, which raised suspicions.

The cold room where the drug was found had replacement plates on the walls, indicating that the structure was often dismantled for the removal of the narcotic in Manaus. Thus, according to the police, there is a chance that this was not the first trip of the vessel carrying drugs, which, according to police, possibly came from Peru .
