British lawyer Amal Clooney was among a panel of experts convened by the International Criminal Court that approved the issuance of arrest warrants against senior Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Hamas leaders for war crimes. Chief prosecutor Karim Khan thanked Clooney, describing her as part of “a team of international law experts” he had turned to for advice and to review the evidence in the case, the Guardian reports. Khan announced yesterday, Monday, that Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallad are being targeted for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israeli officials are accused of systematically depriving civilians of basic supplies and that attacks on aid workers have further exacerbated the humanitarian crisis.
