Amazon credited with intent to release wall-mounted Echo with 15-inch display

Citing a Bloomberg publication, the source said Amazon is working on several new additions, including an Echo smart speaker with a 15-inch display, a soundbar, a new version of the Echo Auto device and wearable devices. According to Bloomberg, some of them may be presented as early as September 28th.

The most interesting among the new products is considered to be a smart speaker codenamed Hoya, which can not only be placed on a stand, like a regular Echo device, but also mounted on a wall. It will serve as the center of the smart home for controlling lights, cameras, locks and other devices, while showing the weather, timers, schedules, photos and more. Designed specifically for kitchen use, the display column displays recipes and cooking videos on YouTube, and lets you watch Netflix and launch apps.

Amazon may also announce its own soundbar, codenamed Harmony, which is rumored to accompany its line of Amazon-branded TVs. Unlike third-party Alexa-enabled soundbars, this soundbar will have a front-facing camera and will be able to support video calls from TVs and the Facebook Portal TV service.

The updated version of the Echo Auto, codenamed Marion, will presumably have a new design and allow charging devices using inductive technology. Amazon is currently working with Ford to bring Alexa to 700,000 vehicles, but appears to be looking to partner with other automakers as well.

The developments include the new 2022 Echo speakers and wearable devices for children and the elderly (the latter with fall detection). The company is also said to be creating specialized processors for artificial intelligence and new technologies that help Fire TV, Echo and other Amazon devices work better together.

According to the report, the company is developing others for such familiar products. For example, a home robot, codenamed Vesta, which will use the Alexa interface, and an Alexa-based karaoke microphone. However, the team that worked on the latter was reportedly disbanded.
